:: Memo to some people out there: Racism STILL exists!!! ::

On a friend’s FB page, he posted this article entitled Arkansas High School Appoints Co-Valedictorian Because Top Student Was African American

Me, I’m like “What the hell is this??” So I clicked it. And this is what the website stated:

“A high school student in Arkansas was blocked from receiving sole valedictorian honors this summer, despite earning the highest G.P.A. in her class and receiving only a single B in her four years at McGehee Secondary School. Kymberly Wimberly’s offense? She’s black. School administrators worried that Wimberly’s accomplishment would result in a “big mess” at the majority-white school, so Principal Darrell Thompson told the student’s mother “that he decided to name a white student as co-valedictorian,” even though the white student had a lower G.P.A. The matter is currently pending in federal court.”

If you’re upset and confused, you’re not alone!! The nerve of that principal to tarnish this student’s success because he was basically a punk by letting others’ opinions guide his judgment. This is ridiculous. If you’re one of the few who wholeheartedly believe that racism does not exist in 2011 you need to have a reality check. This was a blatant example of racism!

However, I do hope the girl is empowered and will do greater things after high school! We all have stumbling blocks and haters out there who try to limit our progress because of fear. Keep on truckin and keep doing you! Because someday they will see the error in their ways as you continue to pass their expectations! We have got to do better folks!!
